BUYER QUESTIONS

A clearer answer.
A more useful next step.

Practical guidance for commercial buyers considering sourcing, supplier coordination, quality checks and export support in China.

Do you buy small personal items from China?
UNISON focuses on business purchasing, including bulk, repeat, project and container orders. One-off personal shopping is generally outside our service scope.

If you are purchasing for a business, share the product details, estimated quantity, destination market and any existing supplier information. This helps us assess whether you need product sourcing, supplier coordination, pre-shipment quality checks or export support. Minimum quantities and available arrangements depend on the product and supplier, so we confirm suitability before you proceed.
Can you help if I already have a supplier?
Yes. You can involve us in an existing supplier relationship when you need local communication, order follow-up, pre-shipment checks or export coordination. The work can focus on the stage where you need support.

Send the product requirements, supplier location, current order stage and the points you want followed up. We can then discuss a suitable scope and how updates will be shared. The supplier’s own obligations and the buyer’s purchasing decisions remain important throughout the project.
Can you support custom-made products?
Custom purchasing starts with a clear description of the required product. Drawings, reference images, dimensions, materials, intended use and finish requirements can help make supplier discussions more specific.

We can discuss sourcing and coordination support around your requirements, including the information that needs clarification before production. Supplier capability, sample arrangements, minimum quantities and lead times must be confirmed for the particular product. A reference image alone may not be enough to define a production-ready specification.
What can a pre-shipment quality check cover?
The agreed scope may include visual condition, basic workmanship, quantity spot checks, packing and relevant labels or markings. Reference specifications and any approved sample help define what should be checked.

Photos and summary notes can provide visibility of the items reviewed at that time. A visual or sampled check has limits; specialist testing, certification and checks requiring particular equipment need to be discussed separately. Explore the checking process →
Is there a fixed minimum order quantity?
Minimum order quantities depend on the product, supplier and any customisation involved. A ready-made item and a product requiring a new production setup may have different commercial requirements.

Tell us your expected order quantity and whether this is a trial, repeat purchase or project requirement. We can assess the sourcing fit and clarify the supplier’s conditions. UNISON’s focus remains commercial B2B purchasing; we do not publish a universal minimum that could be misleading for a particular product.
Can you help with packing and export coordination?
We can discuss packing follow-up, consolidation, loading follow-up and export coordination as part of an agreed project scope. The practical work depends on the goods, supplier locations and destination arrangements.

Share the product information, available packing details, supplier readiness and your planned shipping arrangements. Responsibilities for booking, documentation, destination clearance and delivery should be agreed clearly. Shipping a product is a separate milestone from its arrival, clearance or final delivery.
How are your services quoted?
A useful quotation begins with a defined scope. Sourcing a new product, following up an existing supplier and arranging a pre-shipment check involve different work, locations and timing.

Provide the product requirements, destination, current order stage and the support you need. We can discuss the proposed work and clarify which costs are included or need separate confirmation before you decide how to proceed. Pricing and supplier terms are project-specific.
What should I send with my first enquiry?
Start with a product description, drawings or reference photos, expected quantity, destination market and preferred timing. If you already have a supplier, include the location and current stage of the discussion or order.

It also helps to identify the decision you need support with: finding suppliers, comparing quotations, clarifying custom details, checking goods or coordinating shipment preparation. Use our practical enquiry checklist →
